Last post!!

Hello bloggers!  Today I’ll be telling you about my experience with English courses.
I really like this subject, I was looking forward to do it and I wasn’t disappointed! I enjoyed the topics we talked about in class and I also enjoyed writing the posts. I liked it because it is a good way to improve grammar. I had never taken an English course before, so it helped me a lot with my writing.

My reading comprehension in English is very weak; when I try to read Research’s papers for a class it’s really hard for me to understand them. I’ve also tried to read a novel in English, it was about a very simple topic but it was hard; I understood every world separated but I had to read them many times so they could make sense.  Only practice makes it perfect! So my plan to improve it is keep reading until it gets easier!

I use English a lot (I think), I love watching series on Netflix and I always watch them in English with English’s subtitles; I’ve learn a lot of new words but I can only do it with USA’s series or even Australian’s, but I just can’t understand then English’s accent. I also use English to communicate with my friends from other countries (whose I met in the exchange program).

I think English it’s very important, I would like to have more English’s courses at the University because in my opinion 4 aren’t enough and they are very expensive outside! Also it would be cool to have different language program, like French or German. Anyway, I think I made the most of this course! Thanks and Good-bye!

Study Program

Hello readers! Today I’m going to tell you about how it’s been my study program in the Natural Renewal Resources career.

I like the study program so far, I am only on my first year but I like the classes that I have taken and the classes I’ve heard that are on the future sound interesting too. I would like to have more field work though; I think they are not enough and we need them.  I can’t say much about the first year’s classes because I had most of them transferred when I change my degree.

About the faculty facilities I think Antumapu is okay. I mean we have an incredible Campus, which has a lot of green areas with nice places to hang out and take a break from so much study and stress. Also we have nice buildings and infrastructure; we have study rooms that are appropriate with our needs and we have it better than other Campus. I have the experience of studying in Juan Gomez Millas and there are many differences; the building are not that nice, and they haven’t remodel them in a long time. I was on the Faculty of Science and the laboratories were kind of poor; the first year  of my study there, they were building new labs and by the time I left (3 years after), they weren’t finished yet.

One of the things I like most of Antumapu is the CEACS’s program and the work they do, it is very important to count with professional that can help you with the stress life of a student.

Enjoy this beautiful Campus!

Summer Holidays!!

Hello bloggers!
Today I’m going to write about my summer vacations! I’ve been thinking about them the entire year!

For January (after I’m done with my finals), I want to go to a volunteer program called “Vive tus Parques”, it’s a program by CONAF and INJUV where we go to a National Park and we help to restore it. They have a winter and summer volunteer. I went to the last one on July and it was incredible fun and I met awesome people!! I reapply again last month so I really hope I can make it because it ‘s very popular and too many people apply.

For February I’m planning to travel, I’ve been saving money since August when I got a job. I wasn’t sure where I wanted to go; I was planning to go with my best friends, but they never decided if they could go.  So I remember a friend called me the day of CyberMonday to tell me I MUST check the plane tickets; they were so cheap!! I didn’t think twice and I got a ticket to Puerto Montt!! My friend is also going, but she’s going to meet me up after a few days after I land (maybe a week), so I’m going to be all by myself!! I’m really excited about it because I’ve wanted to travel alone for a while and this is my opportunity. I hope that everything goes well!

Medicinal Plants 🌱💊

Hello! Today I’ll write about medicinal plants; to start I have to say my parents are both believers of the power of our nature, so they have always taught me about different medicinal plants and their capacity to heal. In my opinion these medicinal plants can help but they are not magical; there are a lot of other factors that have to be along with the treatment, such as a good diet, meditation, that are not usually compatible with our rhythm of life.

Last semester I went to a workshop about “Natural Gynecology” where I learnt a lot more about these plants (related and not related with gynecology). The one I use the most is ginger, it really helps me when I have a cold. I mix it with hot water, lemon and honey; the effects are amazing I recommend it for these days when we don’t have time to get sick.

Another anecdote I remember is that a year ago, I got really sick, my “stomach” ached A LOT and I didn´t know what was wrong, so my mom gave me every single medicinal plant that was in my house. She gave me an infusion almost for every organ of my body, my colon, my liver, my stomach, and nothing worked, we decided to go to the doctor and at the end I had to get an APPENDECTOMY ): That’s why nothing helped, I needed surgery ): !!

Postgraduate Studies

Hi readers! Today I will tell you about my study plans after I graduate. I think in these days it is necessary to take a postgraduate study so you can be a better professional. In my opinion I would rather be studying than working so I want to take all the postgraduate studies that I can and apply to all the scholarship I could take.
I definitely want to study abroad; I would like to study something about sustainable development so I would love to go to a country that has already that kind of policies implemented on their society it could be Australia, New Zealand, France or Switzerland. But for those last two I would have to learn French and it would be more fun because I really like that language. Germany could also be an excellent place to learn about sustainable development but I think German language it is one of the hardest one to learn.

I would also like to study something about clean energies so I could help to implement them in Chile, it is very necessary to invest in renewable energies and in order to do that we need excellent experts that can do that.

I think it would be a great experience to do a postgraduate study abroad, because it is a great way to learn and be an expert of something new and change experience with so many foreign students from different countries so I can have different perspectives of everything.

My future job (and how I discovered my path) 👔 🌅

Hello readers! Today I’m going to write about the job I want for me in the future. It’s a difficult thing to write and actually it’s kind of a long story how I got to discover the path I want to follow.

When I was in school I enjoyed some class more than others (as everyone), but I liked the most biology and math.  So I decided to study Biotechnology. I got in and I was really happy about it. The first year was very normal, with introductory classes and some basic science courses. But after the second year I realized didn’t like the jobs that biotechnologists have. It just wasn’t for me to be inside a lab my whole life. And the way it is in Chile, there’s no other field than research. I knew I had to make something about it so I decided to change.

I decided to get into Natural Renewable Resources because I think it’s a multidisciplinary career in which I can develop different skills; I want to work in a job that’s close to people.  I enjoy doing Environmental Education; I think it’s a way to change the world. I’d also like to work in some consulting firm and fight against big corporations that doesn’t care about our environment but I think it’s a  more frustrating path, because it’s hard to “swim against the current” in a country like Chile.

Favorite Book 📚

Today I have to write about my favorite book… It’s kind of hard for me, because I don’t have one! There are too many different writers and varieties that makes hard for me to pick one.

I’ve always like to read, when I was in high school I remember I read all the best seller series such a Harry Potter, Twilight, The Hunger Games (haha). My favorite writer in those times was Alberto Fuguet, because I could feel related to the stories that he tells in his books.  But as the times gone by I have change my preference to a different kind. (That’s why is hard to decide!).

So, I decided I’m going to write about one book that I’ve recently read and change me in some ways.
The book is “The Second Sex” by the feminist writer Simone de Beauvoir. It’s one of the most important books of feminism and it was written in 1949. The book is about what means to be born as a woman in this society. What impress me the most about it, that’s was written so many years ago, but we still dealing with the same problems. The book made me wonder a lot, and it was hard for me to read it sometimes because I had to look for many concept I didn’t know the meaning and that’s another reason why I liked it so much.
